Should i seafoam my mustang

Thanks for the help - I will check out the factory included funnel and give it a shot. Most likely I am going to fill up a spray bottle with water and try to rinse off the under body parts that got sea foam on them. Your usual wash stuff should be fine.

It's not corrosive like brake fluid. Thanks too, never knew that funnel existed. Next year, I would suggest you pour the stabilizer in the tank using the little white funnel in the trunk , then fill it up with gas, and drive it a few miles before putting it away for the winter. This method not only mixes the stabilizer with the gas in the tank but the gas in the fuel lines is stabilized as well. You guys didn't pour through the user manual after you got the car?! I was all over that thing!!!

I have to admit that when I first saw that there was no cap, I was skeptical. Funny how good of a job that the car manufacturers have done keeping the basics the same enough that we can just climb in and drive yet when they add a feature like the capless tank, even us car guys can't figure it out without the manual!!!

Can you imaging what would happen if a regular person ran out of gas and tried to fill it with a can?!?! It is intriguing though that a regular funnel doesn't work. I wouldn't have expected that even though I read the manual. Don't loose that little white funnel in the trunk!

I will have to check that out and determine what it is about the shape. Fomoco Life is short. Live well! I put a locking cap on mine.

Latest posts. SN95 Mustang Tech. Doin it tomorrow, half in the tank and half in the vacuum line I missin anything? And yes I know it won't totally clean it but that's a weekend project. I usually put it in the vacuum, gas tank, and oil. There are mixed reviews on it.

I've done it with good results, but others have noted they washed down the cylinder walls and seized the motor.

The argument is that its like the motor running in a super rich state, where the walls get washed down by gas, a powerful solvent. However, running it through your gas and oil would be just fine, most anyone agrees to that. I don't think it does shit. A smoke show to make the user feel like its doing something.

JRad Active Member. It destroyed my O2 sensors. I know that. Shifty Powers Well-Known Member. When I did it I sucked the entire can into the engine. Ran it. Had no issues but still used the opportunity to change my spark plugs. Ran a little crisper after that lol.. I didnt sit in my driveway for only 2 mins. Then went to drive it at various speeds.

Pulled out of my driveway and some BMW came flying up onto me Needless to say he had to stop dead in the middle of the street because of that action lol.. I was like.. Where is the smokescreen button?!!?!?

Of course i had k on the clock at the time with it never being done or so.. Ive never heard of a cobra locking up its engine while doing it.

I think its different from car model to car model I guess.. Good luck and have fun man! Ok, you all wanna know about Seafoam. Seafoam is this stuff that is used to dissolve carbon deposits in your combustion chambers and will do the same on the IRMC's pretty well.

It can be bought at most autoparts stores. People say to put it in the gas, but then it's just like injector cleaner and doesn't do shit barely. I was told to use the PCV valve to suck it into the motor, so that's what I did.

Step 2: Open the bottle of Seafoam the fluid, not the aerosol spray kind and put the end of the PCV hose into the can, while keeping the can as upright as possible at first. You'll need 2 people, one to hold the can, one inside the car.

Step 3: Start the motor for about 12 seconds. This will suck all the contents out of the bottle into the motor. The can-holder should signal to the person in the car to turn-off the motor as soon as the can is empty. The faster you turn it off, the better. You'll notice that the motor will nearly die when it sucks in the Seafoam, this is normal. Seriously, it'll work fine after the process is done. Step 4: Let the car sit for 30 minutes with the engine off. This will cause quite a smoke-show.

Start the motor, let it idle for about 30 seconds. The engine will be sluggish and want to die, but will usually stay running. After 30 seconds or so, raise the RPM to about and hold it there until you feel the motor start to rev more freely usually about seconds. This step makes lots of smoke. That is all the dissolved carbon blowing out. Step 6: Take the car out for a spin. Go WOT as soon as possible. This should clear the remaining contaminates. Step 7: Drive the car around at different speeds and RPM's until it feels like the car is running like normal.

After of driving, you should notice a large increase in power, more smoothness in revs, and an all-round better running motor.
